BRIDESMAID DRESS ALTERATIONS
Here at Paper Moon Bride, I also offer bridesmaid and flower girl alterations. After all, the wedding dress is not the only dress that usually needs perfecting! The most common alterations on these dresses are shortening the straps and the length. Bridesmaids come in all heights and sizes so it can be tricky to find the right dress that will look the best on everyone but expert alterations can make all the difference to the overall look of your bridal party.
I can accommodate up to 4 bridesmaids in one appointment (although it might get cosy!) but I’m also happy to see one at a time if necessary. Bridesmaids will need to bring the shoes they intend to wear and ideally the correct underwear/shapewear also.
THE TIMELINE
- First Fitting – Anytime before the wedding but no later than 2 weeks before.
- Final Fitting – Usually within 2-3 weeks of the first fitting but can be up to 4-6 weeks during busy periods.
I can sometimes accommodate last minute bridesmaid alterations within a week of the wedding but this will depend on my workload for that week. Please get in touch asap if you need emergency alterations and I will let you know if I am able to help you.
THE COST
Most bridesmaid dress alterations are fairly simple so the average cost is around £40-£90. There is a minimum charge of £40 for any alterations. Here are some example costs:
- Shorten hems – up to 2 layers: £40-£50.
- Shorten straps and hem: £70-£80.
- Shorten straps and hem, and take in sides: £90-£100.
This cost includes all fittings with me in my studio, and all dresses will be steamed.
