PROM DRESS ALTERATIONS
Prom dresses come in a range of styles not too dissimilar to a wedding or bridesmaid dress, and sometimes the construction of the dress is just as complex. The most common alteration is shortening the length as the dress is almost always too long, but sometimes there are other alterations needed to get that perfect fit.
THE TIMELINE
- First Fitting – Anytime before the prom but no later than 2 weeks before.
- Final Fitting – Usually within 2-3 weeks of the first fitting but can be up to 4-6 weeks during busy periods.
I can sometimes accommodate last minute dress alterations within a week of the prom but this will depend on my workload for that week. Please get in touch asap if you need emergency alterations and I will let you know if I am able to help you.
THE COST
For prom dresses that are simple and similar to a bridesmaid dress the average cost is around £40-£90. For dresses that are more like a wedding dress, with boned bodices, beading and/or fuller skirts, the average cost is around £60-£200. This cost includes all fittings with me in my studio, and all dresses will be steamed. There is a minimum charge of £40 for any alterations.
